Rosa Michał

Michał Rosa was born in Zabrze in 1963. A director, screenplay writer and a university lecturer.

He graduated from the Department of Architecture in the Silesian Technical University [Politechnika Śląska]. His first script, "Gorący czwartek” ["A Hot Thursday"] (1994 ), won an award at the Festival of Polish Films in Gdynia. Then he directed " Farba” ["The Paint"] (1997 r.), "Cisza” ["Silence"] (2001), "Co słonko widziało” ["What the Sunshine Has Seen"] (2006) and the "Rysa" ["Crack"] (2008) which debuted at the International Film Festival in Venice. His films have received any awards, including the "Golden Apricot" at the International Film Festival in Erevan, an award from the Batumi International Art House Film Festival  ("Rysa” ["Crack"]), an award for the best director ("Cisza” ["Silence"]) and a Special Jury Award ("Co słonko widziało” ["What the Sunshine Has Seen"]) in the Festival of Polish Films in Gdynia.

Michał Rosa also directs the TV series ("Czas honoru” ["Time of Honour"], "Samo życie” ["Just Life"]) and he lectures in directing in the Department of Radio and TV in the Silesian University.
