"Silesia" Metropolis - Top Culture. Full of Life.

What makes the "Silesia" Metropolis different on the cultural map of Poland, may be expressed by two concepts: diversity and a mutually complementary offer.

It would be very difficult for one city to satisfy all the needs of its residents and visitors. Due to very close cooperation in several areas including  communication,  the Metropolis provides a very abundant choice from highly diversified cultural offering of the area of over 1200 square kilometres.

Several hundred venues offer events for every taste: from large organisations and minor enterprises, to tourists and residents, lovers of highly sophisticated top culture and fans of all that may be described by the term "off".

"Spodek", the largest event and sport hall in Poland, holds the events such as: Rawa Blues and Mayday Polska. Linkin Park, Pearl Jam, Genesis, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Metallica, U2 and The Police gave concerts in the Silesian Stadium [Stadion Śląski]. The lovers of fun in the open can enjoy the Voivodeship Culture and Leisure Park (WPKiW)  i.e.  the largest European urban park  and the Rysiek Riedel Festival [ Festiwal im. Ryśka Riedla]. The Tauron New Music [Tauron Nowa Muzyka], the best minor festival in the continent, has settled for good in Katowice; the Muchowiec Airport hosts OFF Festival, one of the top ten festivals in Europe. There are tens of theatres of various types as well as cinemas including studio cinemas in the Metroplis. The Silesian Dance Theatre [Śląski Teatr Tańca] has become famous worldwide for their innovative choreographies as well as the International Contemporary Dance Conference [Międzynarodowa Konferencja Tańca Współczesnego] and the Dance Art. Festival [Festial Sztuki Tanecznej]. There is actually an endless line of events to be mentioned here such as Interpretations [Interpretacje] and Reality Presented [Rzeczywistość Przedstawiona] theatre events, the Cult Film Festival [Festiwal Filmów Kultowych], a film event, the events on the verge of arts i.e. the Street Art Festival and a lot more.

There is no other place in Poland that can offer so wide selection of various post-industrial monuments such as the Industrial Monuments Route [Szlak Zabytków Techniki]. The Open Air Mining Museum [Skansen Górniczy] i.e. the Historical "Guido" Coal Mine [Zabytkowa Kopalnia Węgla Kamienneto "Guido"] in Zabrze, the highest wooden structure in the World, the Gliwice Radio Broadcasting Station [Radiostacja Gliwicka], the Tychy Museum of Brewery [Tyskie Muzeum Piwowarstwa] provide only a few examples of such historical places.

The above specification is only a foretaste of the available attractions. Namely, the "Silesia" Metropolis provides  an infinity of cultural events.

"Top Culture" ["Pełnia kultury”] ensures easy access to culture.
